Welcome

I look forward to working with you. You should know that I am an avid reader and writer, and that I teach literacy because I love it very, very much. I truly believe that reading and writing are vital skills for anyone who wants to live a fulfilled life, and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with students in reading and writing courses at Oakton.

I'm a former high school English teacher and reading specialist. Prior to coming to Oakton in the fall of 2010, I taught reading and composition at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. I have also taught graduate students in a reading and literacy program, and gifted students from kindergarten through 8th grade in classes covering topics from ancient monarchs to The Hobbit to etymology.

As you might guess, I love teaching, and I consider it an honor to teach here at Oakton.

Thank you to Carol Bustamante for teaching me how to create and design this website!
