Oakton College is beginning campus improvement projects including those outlined in our recently approved facilities master plan, which will result in transformed spaces that create an optimal learning and working environment for students and employees.

Des Plaines Campus Construction

Exterior Landscape Renovation Work

As the exterior renovation work begins, please note that the schedule is weather-dependent and may be revised.

Starting May 20, replacement work on the concrete walkway on the north side of the Lee Center will begin. Different sections of the walkway will be unavailable throughout the week of May 20-24.

From May 23-24, concrete walkway replacement will take place at the entrance #37. During this period, access to the entrance will be blocked. Please use alternative entrances to access the building.

Oakton College Educational Foundation and SBDC

The Oakton College Educational Foundation & SBDC will move to a new area in the summer. The construction is currently underway near Door No. 37. The door is available with short-term obstructions; drop-off parking is limited.

Liberal Arts and Institutional Research Offices

Liberal Arts and Institutional Research office renovations will begin in March on the second floor of the Des Plaines campus (suites 2100 and 2180). As work continues, the area will be impacted by dust and noise.

Des Plaines Campus TenHoeve Center

The TenHoeve rooms (1600 Rooms) at the Des Plaines campus will be available for use through November 2024. The conference room (#1275) will be available through July.

Skokie Campus Construction

The access road connecting the Lincoln and Mulford Lots will be closed on May 20 for traffic control striping.

Learning Commons

Through fall 2024
(dates are approximate and subject to adjustment)

Our Skokie Campus Library will soon become a Learning Commons, including collaborative learning spaces and centralized access to student support services. The area will be impacted by noise during construction activity.

All Skokie Library services, including the reference desk, computers, scanners, and print stations, will be located in rooms A145-152 (Oak Rooms). Books can be checked out in the Oak Rooms but will be retrieved by library employees from temporary storage.

The Skokie Testing Center, Learning Center, Access and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and TRIO Student Support Services have temporarily relocated to Rooms P103-104 (Acorn Rooms).  

The Oak and Acorn Rooms will be unavailable for meetings, events and rentals through September 2024.
