Des Plaines, Ill. (April 16, 2024) - Prepare to be enchanted as Oakton College’s Six Piano Ensemble takes the stage for an afternoon of reimagined melodies, April 28.

Founded by Glenna Sprague, Oakton’s esteemed professor and music coordinator, the Six Piano Ensemble has mesmerized audiences for over a quarter of a century. Critically acclaimed worldwide for its innovation and technical excellence, with melodies seamlessly passed between pianists, the ensemble promises an unforgettable experience.

Highlighted pieces on the program include Johann Sebastian Bach's "Fugue No. 2 in C Minor," Scott Joplin's "The Ragtime Dance," Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s “Take the ‘A’ Train,” and Gioachino Rossini's "The Barber of Seville - Overture." Featuring a diverse repertoire spanning classical, ragtime, jazz, and popular music, along with symphonic arrangements for six pianos, the multilayered sound mirrors that of an orchestra.

Under the direction of Sprague, the sextet includes Constance Bergmann, Skokie; Michelle Delana, Chicago; Jacob Levin, Northbrook; Jason Nelson, Morton Grove; Margo Schwartz-Newton, Northbrook; and Nathaniel Sugatan, Niles.

A reception will follow the concert, offering attendees an opportunity to mingle with the performers.
